SYRIA, IRAQ, & LEBANON
Since the start of the Syrian Civil War, more than 6.7 million Syrians have become refugees, with a similar number internally displaced. Internally displaced persons (IDPs) in northwestern Syria face horrific conditions in camps, advances by Syrian government forces, and limited access to food and medicine. Over the course of the conflict, Syrian refugees have primarily fled to neighboring Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, and Iraq - exacerbating already struggling healthcare and welfare systems throughout the region. SAMS not only provides life-saving resources for Syrian refugees, but also for struggling host country communities to alleviate social tensions.
IMPACT OF YOUR GENEROSITY
Support our partner on the ground in responding to the needs of health facilities, specifically in their response to COVID-19, while at the same time keep delivering advanced medical care for those in need.
Your support will address the needs in 15 major facilities (mixed hospitals and clinics) providing personal protective gears and equipment (PPEs) for the medical and non-medical personnel, infection prevention and control (IPC) disinfectants and supplies, to be safe while caring for suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patients and serving other hospitalized patients.
SAMS will continue to mitigate the COVID-19 crisis in the Kurdistan region in Iraq by sponsoring PPEs and/or selected small equipment to a newly established inpatient facility and teaching hospital in the Duhok area specifically for COVID-19 response. This area supports a population of at least 88,000 across 6 camps within a 5 km distance. SAMS will also provide essential medicines and supplies to Baghdad's Ibn Al Khatib Hospital to replace those destroyed in the April 2021 fire.
SAMS will continue to support COVID-19 response for a Multi Speciality clinic in Beka'a Valley, operated by a locally registered organization, Multi Aids Programs (MAPS), which serves refugees and the local Lebanese community. A team of 25 physicians manage this clinic. Health care services include pediatrics, women's health, medical and surgical subspecialties, dentistry, a laboratory, a pharmacy, and medical imaging. Your gift will support the procurement of infection and prevention control (IPC) and PPE items.
Give to the World assists stabilization efforts in the most conflict-ridden and conflict-threatened areas of the world by providing the life-saving resources necessary to strengthen families and communities in their daily struggle for survival. Your contributions save lives, alleviate suffering, restore dignity, and provide the foundation for further economic, political, and social development.
